In French, "interlope" means something suspicious or something that arouses suspicion. It is the term that a neighbor of the editorial staff used to label those who visited him, and whose extravagance and freedom he did not like. It is also the editorial line of this new magazine- focused on the margins of creation. Musicians preferring the shadow to the mud, writers without avowed alibis, photographers without lenses and hobbled by strobes, INTERLOPE wants to be the meeting point between subversive depths and new visions. As the editorial of this first issue states, INTERLOPE imagines itself in perpetual mutation, and declares that it is interested in everything except trustworthy, verified, irreproachable morals.

The first issue of INTERLOPE honors the editorial plurality that the magazine claims: 240 pages, about thirty subjects. It includes portraits of designers and artists (Nicolas Di Felice, Ariana Papademetropoulos, Gaspar Noé...), musicians (HYD, Yeule, Bernardino Femminielli...), as well as a file of unpublished short stories by several writers revolving around vice (Oscar Coop-phane, Simon Johannin, Matthieu Peck...) Between two series devoted to the emerging English and French music scenes, "the fire that burns you", photographers-filmmakers reveal their vision of Kazakhstan and architects question the idea of black. Since, by definition, the underworld operates in the shadows, this issue focuses on those we hear about at night. Also this edition investigates what remains of provocation. In a world of semi-generalized apathy, isn't that a brave act, asks the editorial. Enjoy your reading.
