Männer Vogue, the German equivalent of Vogue Hommes International, broke the traditional rules of men's magazines, with a sharp focus on the fashion-forward over the course of its short shelf-life between 1984 and 1989. With a bold creative outlook, the title employed a host of talented photographers, from a young Mario Testino, to stalwarts like Herb Ritts and Helmut Newton. Beda Achermann, the creative visionary who headed up the magazine, gave it the courageous insouciance that is still the signature style of Vogue Hommes International today, changing opinions and bringing fresh ideas to fashion with a bold, irreverent approach. Now, publishing house Steidl has delved into the best of the Männer Vogue archives, to create an impressive book that takes us inside the magazine archives, with some of the best features over the years.
